WINTER BASKETBALL TEAMS

Basketball Teams for Term 2-3 2010

Norwood Flames Trials

The Flames will be holding trials in August for players wishing to play wth them in the 2010/11 summer season.  We already have a handful of Rose Park players competing at district level, so don't be afraid to go out and give it a try.  The flyer is attached below.

Norwood Flames Trials

Welcome to Term 3

Welcome to another term of basketball at Rose Park.  Let's carry on the good work from term 2 where all teams performed well and trained hard.  Hopefully they also had some fun along the way.  Term 3 is looming as a big term as we head towards the 'business end' of the winter season.  We also have SAPSASA basketball at Pasadena Stadium for some of the older boys.

Where do we sit at the start of term 3?

Rangers - started the season with 8 wins in term 2, a great effort considering the number of players in their first season.  Everyone has contributed in their own way.  Our aim should be to just keep learning and having fun.

Stardust - a great effort in term 2 sees them sitting in equal 3rd position, only one win behind 2nd place.  Pretty good considering this is their first season in the new grade.

Razorbacks - sit comfortably in 4th spot but are only one point out of 2nd place and 3 points from 1st.  A matchup against the top side in week 1 is the perfect opportunity to close the gap.

Lakers - sit 3 points clear on top of their division.  Once again a good effort for their first season in a new grade.

Tigers - last season's premiers had a tough term 2, currently sitting in 6th place in their division.  That said, they are still only 2 points out of 3rd spot so things can change pretty quickly.

Whatever the final results, term 3 will be a success if we continue to learn and enjoy the game.

WEEK 11 RESULTS

Rose Park Rangers

Rose Park Rangers  vs  Parkside

Last game of the school term and Rose Park Rangers finished with a win, final score 16-2.  Rhys, Alexander and Lachlan defended well and stayed with their player, making it difficult for the opposition to score.  Charlie, Rosie and Will were ready for the rebounds, which they dribbled and passed off down the court.  Scorers this week were Charlie 8, Will 6 and Rosie 2.  Well done Rangers see you all next term.

Rose Park Lakers

Rose Park Lakers vs St Josephs Saints
What an exciting game to end the school term on.  It was a very close game but the Lakers were defeated 22-25.  Brilliant defence by Blair, Declan, Cub and Ryan, they kept it tight and made it as hard as possible for the opposition to score.  Great passing down the court between the players, unlucky on the rebound the opposition had a very tall player. Jake had to go off with an injury, unlucky he was having a great game.  Scorers this week were Ned 8, Jono 6, Jake 4 and Declan 4.  Well done Lakers look forward to next term.

WEEK 10 RESULTS

Rose Park Rangers

Rose Park Rangers vs  The Devils
The teams were very well matched, Rose Park Rangers had more height and The Devils had more speed. Rosie was unlucky not to score, taking a nasty fall leading up to shoot - but was back on court by the end of the game.  Rhys also scored his first goal, from a set shot - well done.  If The Rangers missed the rebound they had to work hard to defend their goal, which they did with the final score 14 - 8.  Scorers this week William 11, Alexander 2 (with another goal being disallowed), Rhys 1.  Great game Rangers well done.

Rose Park Lakers

Rose Park Lakers vs St John Stealers
Welcome back to Jono from his overseas holiday, refreshed and ready to score.  The Rose Park Lakers came out strong with some great passing down the court, the boys work well together as a team.  It was the Lakers defence that helped them win the game.  Too tight for the opposition to penetrate with the final score 36-6.  Scorers this week Jake 11, Ned 10, Jono 6, Cub 4, Declan 4 and Ryan 1.  Well done Lakers a great game to watch.

WEEK 9 RESULTS

Rose Park Rangers

Rose Park Rangers vs St John’s Stealers
The team came out fast and strong with some good shooting.  The defence was tight with great marking.  The final score was 17-7, scorers were Charlie 12 and Alexander 5.  Abby was very close to scoring, a great effort.

Rose Park Lakers

Rose Park Lakers vs Burnside
Burnside were first to score but it was Rose Park Lakers that won the game.  The boys worked well as a team, with passing and defence - all had a great game.  Final score was 27 - 8, scorers were Jake 11, Ned 6, Cub 4, Declan 4 and Blair 2.  The boys did such a great job in defence that Burnside couldn't get past them to score.  Great effort.

WEEK 8 RESULTS

Rose Park Rangers

Rose Park Rangers vs Mercedes
The team came out very strong and within 5 minutes the other team were in mercy.  Rhys worked hard in defence with some great marking.  Defence was tight around the key and because of this intercepting the ball was done well.  Abby helped set up some great goals with baseline throw ins. There was also some good dummy passes that put the opposition off and we were able to score.  Final score was 30-0, scorers this week were Charlie 12, Alexander 10, William 6 and Lachlan 2.

WEEK 7 RESULTS

Rose Park Rangers

Rose Park Rangers vs St Johns Jupiters
The team faced a very strong opposition and for a change found themselves in mercy.  The team fought hard but unfortunately lost on the day with the final score, 13-16.  The team played well with good marking and ball handling, watch out for those rebounds.  Scorers this week were Jackson 10, Charlie 2 and Lachlan 1.

Rose Park Lakers

Rose Park Lakers vs Burnside
First thank you to Felix for filling in at short notice and Kath for coaching.
The team showed good composure, intercepting the ball and shooting.  Defence work well together getting the rebounds and keeping the opposition score low.  Final score 22-8, scorers this week were Jake 12, Ryan 6, Ned 2 and Declan 2.

WEEK 6 RESULTS

Rose Park Rangers

Rose Park Rangers   vs   The Devils
The team came out hard and strong right from the beginning and had to play mercy from early on.  They learnt about zone play and marking a player when in mercy.  They all did an excellent job of defending their goal and passing the ball up to shoot. Scorers this week were Charlie 13, Rosie 2, William 2.

Final score Rose Park Rangers 17 def The Devils 5, well done everyone.

Rose Park Lakers

Rose Park Lakers vs Burnside
A fast game from the beginning, some great defending by Ned, Blair and Declan.  The boys did a brilliant job at passing the ball from their defence up to the middle and then up to the shooters. They play so well as a team, it’s great to watch.  Scorers this week were Jake 14(plus one ball stuck behind the ring), Cub 6, Ryan 4, Blair 2 and Ned 1, well done everyone.

Team Names

We have advised the Unley Centre of the following changes to the team names we have been issued:

Year 2-3 Rose Park Mixed 1 – Rose Park Rangers

Year 4-5 Rose Park Boys – Rose Park Razorbacks

Year 4-5 Rose Park Girls – Rose Park Stardust

Year 6-7 Rose Park Boys 2 – Rose Park Lakers

The other year 6-7 boys team will remain as the Rose Park Tigers.

These names sound much cooler!

Congratulations to Ned Holland and Max Kimber for picking up prizes in our impromptu basketball quiz this week.  Ned also deserves a special mention for his excellent submission on his favourite basketball players.

LEBRON KOBE (Ned Holland)

WEEK 5 RESULTS

Rose Park Rangers

Another great game by Rose Park Rangers, they came out strong and didn't stop until the end.  The final score Rose Park Rangers 21 - St Johns Stealers 2.  Top scorer was Charlie 9, Jackson 6, William 2, Alexander 2 and Lachlan 2.  It was mercy early on in the game and the team was very good at intercepting the ball in the key and protecting their goal. Rhys did a great job marking his player, as did Abby, which really helped in the defence. The team passed the ball around really well, showing great team work.

Rose Park Lakers

Rose Park Lakers vs Scotch Boys
What a fantastic game to watch, very exciting and the end score certainly did not reflect the play.  The boys passed the ball around well and intercepted the ball several times.  Defence did an excellent job of holding up the players and protecting their goal.  But the opposition was too good on the day and the final score was 24 - 43, with scorers Ned 8, Jake 8, Ryan 4, Declan 4.  Scotch Boys had a very tall player that scored 24 of their 43 points.

Rose Park Tigers

A seriously under-manned Tigers took on the Belair Bombers in a top of the table contest.  The boys were gallant and played hard to the end but unfortunately couldn’t match the strong Belair outfit.  With only five players (and two of them were backing up from an earlier game) we were always going to be up against it.  The boys showed great composure and did some really good work on offence.  Well done Daniel, Jayden and Jake P.  Special thanks to Ned and Jake for filling in after their own game and ensuring that we could have a game.

WEEK 4 RESULTS

Rose Park Rangers

Rose Park Rangers vs St Johns Jupiters
It was a very even game and Rose Park Rangers had their first loss of the season, final score 10-14.
Scorers were:
Charlie 6
William 2
Alexander 2
They played very well as a team, with some good passing. Very exciting game to watch.

Rose Park Stardust

The Stardust Year 4/5 girls team won against Blackforest Primary School 16-9. The first half of the match was very close, and Stardust was one point behind going into the change. But a quick burst of scoring shots put them ahead. Top scorers for the match were Tayler Price with 10 points, Emily Logue with four and Charlotte Cardone with two. Passing around the key was strong, as was the Stardust defence. Well done to the entire team.

Rose Park Year 6-7 Boys 2

Rose Park Boys 2 had their first loss of the season against the Hurricanes, it was a very fast and hard game. At one stage the boys had the lead, but the opposition were just too strong on the day. Considering half the team had played SAPSASA Football that day, they did really well.  Blair was very good at intercepting the ball from a throw in. While Ryan showed great skill at bouncing the ball and weaving around the opposition, he was unlucky not to score. Scorers this week were Jono 8, Ned 4, Cub 2, Declan 2.

WEEK 3 RESULTS

Rose Park Year 2-3 Mixed

Thank you to Donna Groth for coaching, the team had a great win. The scorers were:
Rosie 2
Charlie 8
Jackson 14
Alexander 2
The team also learnt the mercy rule.

Rose Park Year 6-7 Boys 2

Another great win, scorers as follows:
Declan 2
Jono 14
Cub 6
Ned 8
Final score 31 - 12
The team moved around well and did some great passing, nearly fouled out in the first half.

Rose Park Stardust

The all-girls Rose Park Stardust played well against Linden Park. But not only was the opposition team very strong, it was also very tall! The Stardust lost 20-6.

Nastasia Foster scored four points and Tayler Price two. A great effort by every team member.

WEEK 2 RESULTS

Rose Park Year 2-3 Mixed

Congratulations to the Rose Park mixed team for their thrilling win against Parkside this week (16-3).  Well done to our scorers - Jackson 6, Alexander 4, William 4 and Rosie 2.  A great effort also by Abby, Rhys and Andrea in defence.  Well done to the whole team for listening well and trying to score as many times as possible once you were in the key.  Next week let’s focus on getting our hands up and ready to catch any rebounds.

Rose Park Raptors

Rose Park Raptors drew 6-6 with Highgate Hornets.

Rose Park Razorbacks

The Razorbacks 4/5 mixed team played strongly against the Scotch Blue Boys, winning 22-2. Max Kimber was the top scorer with 8 points, Cameron Fatchen scored 3, Rory Egar 2 and Dot Pagram and Liam Maroney one. The team spirit in this match was great, with lots of ball sharing and passing. Defence was again particularly strong.

WEEK 1 RESULTS

Rose Park Year 2-3 Mixed

Welcome to Abby, Lachlan, Rosie, Charlie, Rhys, William, Jackson, Alexander and Andrea.  We had a good start to the season with a narrow loss to Burnside Mixed – goal scorers were Alexander 2 and Jackson 2.  It was good to see the players come together – we will get better as we get more court time, learn more about the game and our team’s strengths.  Let’s focus on rebounds and picking up an opposition player next week.

Rose Park Raptors

Rose Park Raptors were defeated by The Lions 11-4 in their first game in the new grade.

Rose Park Razorbacks

The Razorbacks 4/5 mixed team played against the St Johns Jets. It was a really close game, and the Jets won 12-10 with a final penalty shot.  Scorers for Rose Park were Max Kimber with 6 points and Cameron Fatchen and Tayler Price both with 2 points.  This was the first match for the newly formed Razorbacks and the players came together really well as a team. Defence was particularly strong and every team member played hard for the ball.

Well done to Dot, Charlotte, Tayler, Cameron, Max, Liam, Rory and Lewys.

Rose Park Year 6-7 Boys 2

Rose Park Boys 2 defeated St John’s Snakes 31-6.

Top scorers were Jono 13, Ned 10, Daniel 4, Cub 2, Jayden 2.
It was a great game to watch with brilliant passing between players.  They played a zone game style with Declan, Jayden, Daniel and Cub in defence. Not many got past the boys, they did a great job at getting the ball down to Ned and Jono who followed it up with great scoring.
Thank you to Kath Holland for coaching and also thank you to Daniel and Jayden Subramaniam for filling in.

WEEK 10 RESULTS

Rose Park Tigers win Grand Final!

The mighty Tigers overcame Belair in a tight contest that was worthy of its grand final status.  After a physical opening the Tigers went into half time with a 14-8 lead.  Fergus and Adam were the standout performers.  Rory was a constant threat in defence but ultimately paid the penalty and fouled out of the game.  The second half was an open and fast-flowing affair that seemed as if it would never end!  James racked up plenty of points under the basket and Adam continued to have plenty of the ball.  In a frenetic final 5 minutes Kalindu and Callan popped up at crucial times to secure turnovers and score baskets.  When Fergus swished his final 2 foul shots the game was in the bag.  Fergus lead the scoring with 12 points with James scoring 10 points, however every player contributed in some crucial way to the end result.  Well done boys!  Congratulations also to coach Donna and all the parents who helped out throughout the season.

Rose Park Rockets

The Rockets went down 14-30 in their final game of the season against Burnside.  To their credit, the girls fought out the game well against an opponent that was much taller than us.  Unfortunately we just ran out of steam towards the end of the game.  Overall we showed pretty good composure and ball handling, that is until we got close to the basket where all of a sudden people thought that they were gun 3 point shooters!  Amber and Crystal fought hard for the ball all over the court and Grace made her presence felt at both ends of the court.  Katie continued her good defensive work.  Once again Bronwen lead the way and won plenty of the ball at both ends (even though her shooting radar was a bit off).   Taylah capped off the game with a basket in the final seconds.  Thanks to retiring coach Rick for his efforts this year (and in previous years).  Thanks also to the parents who came along each week to support the girls.

Rose Park Animals, Pumas and Stardust completed their season in week 9.  All teams recorded some pleasing results in term 1.  Good luck to the players who are moving up a grade in term 2.  Thanks to all the coaches, managers and parents for their assistance this season.

Rose Park Raptors had to forfeit their week 10 game as their players will be spread far and wide.  Some players are returning in term 2 and some will also be trying their luck in the district competition.  Good luck to all.  Thanks to our managers and parents for keeping things on track this season (and for their unwavering support).

WEEK 10 NEWS

Training Sessions

Parents of players returning for the term 2-3 season should note the new Monday night training times.

If players want to get the most out of their basketball experience it is important that they attend training and apply themselves in the same manner as they would in a game.

We would rather not have to implement a ‘No train – No play’ policy.

If players are not able to attend the Monday afternoon sessions please advise Greg Andrew at Greg.Andrew@optusnet.com.au

WEEK 9 RESULTS

Rose Park Animals

A great win for the Animals this week against Mitcham (17-5) – it was so nice to see the girls in charge of the game and having the mercy rule enforced on them for a change!   Well done to our new super recruit Cerys who scored 8, and to the speedy Rosie for sinking 4 goals (7 points).  A great effort by Abby, Emily and Nastasia to be in the right position to try and sink some goals.  And as always, Julia continues to be a good defender and forces the opponents into jump balls.  Thanks again to Dot for happily filling in when the girls needed fresh legs.  We need keep the momentum going and remember to pass the ball to others and to keep on our players for next week!

Rose Park Pumas

This week we faced the Mitcham Hawks.  What an exciting game! These two teams were of very similar ability and the Pumas loved the challenge of the contest. It was a fast-moving game with good pressure and very few fouls and it was goal for goal in the first half with a half-time score of 6-6. The baskets kept coming in turns and it was 10- 10 with five minutes of play remaining when suddenly the Pumas broke away to shoot 3 baskets in a row and win 16- 10.

Goal scorers – Magnus 8 points, Matt 4 points, Finn & Charlie D 2 points each.

It was the last game of the season for the Pumas who finished the term undefeated – Congratulations to Charlie D, Charlie M, Finn, Jack, James, Lachlan, Matt and Magnus on an excellent team effort!

Thanks to Tamara and Greg for their coaching expertise and to all the parents for help with supervision & scoring.  Thanks also to Kath for keeping the team well organised and providing insightful match reviews.

Rose Park Raptors

The Raptors battled hard but ultimately couldn’t overcome a fairly strong St John’s Jaguars is what turned out to be our final game of the season.  Both sides were limited to 5 players in very difficult conditions (did they have the heating on?) and showed greater spirit throughout.  All Raptors players made good contributions and were feeling the effects of a hard game afterwards.  Thanks also to Rosie for helping out by playing the first few minutes and putting her body on the line a couple of times!

The Raptors players all showed signs of how they have progressed over the course of the season.  Max K was a strong rebounding presence on the defensive end and worked extremely hard both ways (to the point of exhaustion!); Jaymin has tightened up his dribbling and beat the one player with a super crossover move on two separate occasions before earning a good assist in the dying seconds; Max W continued to be a sure ball handler and kept working to get into good positions, he has a good jump shot that will earn him plenty of points going forward, Rory is not only a fearless defender but he has found himself a niche inbounding the ball where he has developed the confidence to direct his teammates to move and get open; Dot has been one of our most consistent (and toughest) defenders this season and worked hard to get into position at both ends of the court, she also has a knack of getting open for shots around the foul line.

Rose Park Razorbacks

Won via forfeit.

WEEK 8 RESULTS

Rose Park Animals

Rose Park Animals lost 18-10 against Highgate Hoopstars.  Well done to Cerys (2 points) whose game continues to improve and to Rosie for her court speed.  A big thank you to Dot who saved the day by filling in and contributing 8 points!

Rose Park Pumas

The Pumas were lucky to escape with a 13-0 win this week over Glen Osmond Gorillas. Last time these teams met the Pumas won by a convincing 32 points but this week, although we defended well, our goal shooting wasn’t as accurate as it should have been.  We also lacked commitment and team work in attack. While we did get a victory we really should have scored a lot more points than we did.

Only 2 boys attended practice this week (with 1 explained absence) and in order to play good basketball more effort needs to be put into practice.

Best player: Charlie D

Points scored: Matt 10, Finn 2, Jack 1

Rose Park Raptors

The Raptors went down 25-3 to our perennial nemesis, Mitcham Allstars (do we play them every second week???).  After a slow start we held our own defensively against much taller opposition.  The fact that our two shortest players (Rory and Will) were the ones with the most fouls reflects the spirit we showed on defence.  Some weeks the calls will go your way and other weeks they won’t.  Unfortunately this was one of the ‘other’ weeks.  The team showed good maturity at the end of the game to work through some solid half-court sets, with Will and Max K settling things down for us.  When there is no shot clock you can take as long as you want on offence.  All of our points came from the foul line thanks to Rory with 2 and Will with 1.

Rose Park Razorbacks

The Razorbacks recorded a comprehensive 27-10 victory over the St John’s Sharks in difficult conditions.  It was a fantastic result with all players contributing to the win.  Our passing to open players further down the court was a highlight.  Jono led the way with 18 points.  He showed good finishing skills to reward the efforts of his teammates in getting him the ball.  Cub scored 4 points, Ryan and Blair 2 points each and Declan 1 point from the foul line.

Our shooting still needs more work so everyone needs to get out to training and be ready for plenty of shooting practice.

No results have been sent through from team managers (or the Unley centre) for the following teams:

Rose Park Stardust

Rose Park Tigers

Rose Park Rockets

Can team managers please refer to the 'web page' section in the week 8 news below.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Governing Council has approved an initial process whereby the Sports Committee will investigate potential sponsorship for Rose Park Primary School sports teams where appropriate (see here).  Sponsorship must comply with the relevant sporting organisation guidelines, and will be put to a tender process to ensure a fair opportunity for all parents/businesses to contribute.

Our basketball program would be a prime candidate for sponsorship and could make could use any extra financial support.  If you know of any parties that may be interested in sponsoring us (or even an individual team) please advise Adam Moller (Sports Coordinator).

WEEK 7 RESULTS

Rose Park Pumas

Rose Park Pumas had a thrilling game against Scotch Lions in a top of the table clash. It would have made a great Grand Final!

Rose Park started strongly and led by 7 points at half time but Scotch fought back and the score was 25- 22 in Rose Park's favour with 2 minutes left on the clock. Scotch scored again to close the gap to 1 point with 30 seconds remaining. The Pumas did well to keep Scotch out of scoring range and held on to win 25 - 24.

Top scorers for the Pumas: Magnus 11 points, Charlie M 6 points.

Rose Park Animals

Bye

Rose Park Stardust

Bye

Rose Park Raptors

Won via forfeit.  Thanks to the parents who made the trip down and took the very late notification (thanks Unley!) in their stride.

Rose Park Razorbacks

The Razorbacks drew 12-12 with the CLG 46ers in a tight tussle, both teams had a chance to score the winning basket but it wasn't to be.  Declan scored 6 points, Jono 4 and Cub 2.  Declan and Cub also produced good defensive efforts.  Overall it was a much better defensive effort than last week in that we didn’t give away as many bad fouls for ‘reaching in’ when out of position.  This week we used our feet well and made better position.  Maybe we should wear the cammo paint every week!  A special mention to Lachlan for his composure when handling the ball and his effort in drawing a hard charging foul.

Rose Park Rockets

The Rockets got some payback on the Loreto girls with an awesome 15-12 victory over the Loreto Legends.  Trailing 2-8 at half-time the girls ran all over their opposition in the second half to record a thrilling victory.  A crucial basket from Holly gave the Rockets the lead with 3 minutes to go and from there they were never headed.  Further baskets to Grace then Bronwen sealed the victory (to the delight of the spectators).

Great hustle by Bronwen at both ends of the court was instrumental in the final result, and Crystal helped keep us in the game in the first half with some good work both in defence and fighting over the loose ball.  As the scores became tight, Taylah and Amber battled hard in defence and Katie and Holly kept pushing the ball forward at every opportunity.  Grace really made her presence felt on offence in the final minutes.  It was a well deserved victory that was a result of the super effort put in by all players.

Rose Park Tigers

The Tigers experienced a rare loss going down 33-34 to Hedgehogs United in what was a tight contest throughout.  The Tigers trailed 12-16 at half-time as turnovers and fast break points hurt us.  We fought back well in the second half and looked to have the game won before giving up some crucial late baskets.  The Tigers had one final chance to seal the win in the dying seconds, but our desperate late shots were unsuccessful.

James led the way for us on offence and also recorded a good haul of offensive rebounds.  Rory created a number of turnovers on defence and Adam provided a strong presence on the break to score some crucial late points.  Even though we ended up losing the game, the effort of all of the players cannot be faulted.

WEEK 6 RESULTS

Rose Park Animals

The animals racked up another win this week, defeating Burnside Mixed 6-0.  There was some excellent defensive work by Emily, Cerys and Nastasia and Abby, Rosie and Julia all worked together well in the offense.  Point scorers were Nastasia 2, Emily 2 and Cerys 2 who scored a nail biting goal in the dying last seconds of the game – excellent team work!

Rose Park Pumas

Bye

Rose Park Stardust

The Stardust continued on their merry way with a 9-5 victory over Burnside Girls.

Rose Park Raptors and Rose Park Razorbacks

The Razorbacks defeated the Raptors 19-10 in a hard-fought contest.  Scores were close throughout the match with the Razorbacks scoring some crucial late baskets to seal the win.  Scorers for the Razorbacks were Cub with 8 points, Jono with 7 points and Declan with 4 points.  For the Raptors, Max K and Jaymin scored 4 points each and Max W scored 2 points.

Fouls were a problem for both teams.  When defending, we need to remember two things:

1. The easiest place to defend is from in front of our opponent; and

2. We need to defend with our feet and not our hands.  That means that if our opponent is going past us we need to resist the temptation to reach in for the ball.  We need to use our feet/legs and get in front of them.

Rose Park Rockets

The Rockets went down 41-2 to the top of the table Loreto Shooting Stars.  They have a chance for redemption (of sorts) when they take on the Loreto Legends next week.

Rose Park Tigers

The Tigers continue to set the standard in their competition with a 33-15 victory over the Highgate Globetrotters.  They have done extremely well to compile a record of 10 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss from their 12 games to date.

WEEK 5 RESULTS

Rose Park Animals

The Animals were chasing back-to-back wins when they took the court against Burnside, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be eventually going down 26-2.  There are times in every season when you come up against much stronger opposition and this week was one of them.  We just need to concentrate on making one quick pass into our offensive area every time we have the  ball.

Rose Park Pumas

Another win for the Pumas who defeated Burnside 12-2.  Top scorer was Magnus with 6 points.  Charlie M provided some good rebounding.  It was far from our best game of the season, but a win is a win!  If we can maintain our concentration during the game and dribble the ball to the basket we will find that we score a lot more points.

Rose Park Stardust

The Stardust recorded another comfortable win, this time defeating the St Spyridon Thrashers 32-2.  The girls have been working hard at training and this is reflected in their results.  Tayler P has been setting the standard for the other girls to follow.  Taylor S and Charlotte C have also been impressive.

Rose Park Raptors

The Raptors were defeated 33-14 by a fairly strong Mitcham Allstars side.  After a slow start to the game we lifted our intensity in the latter stages of the first half and throughout the second half.  Max K led the scoring with 6 points.  Dot and Rory (playing though an injury) led the way defensively by applying pressure to our much taller, stronger opponents forcing missed shots and turnovers.  Jaymin also used good positioning in defence during the second half.

Rose Park Razorbacks

The Razorbacks defeated the Highgate Hornets 22-9.  A good effort all round as every player scored at least one basket.  Jono and Cub led the way with 6 points each, Declan chimed in with 4 points.   We racked up a lot of fouls again, so even though we are getting pressure on the player and the ball, we need to make sure we are getting ourselves in the best position to defend.

Rose Park Rockets

Rose Park Tigers

The top of the table Tigers worked hard to defeat second-placed St Johns 41-10.  A great effort considering we only had 5 players.  Adam and James both played well hitting a number of good shots and driving to the basket when the opportunity arose.  Callan continually ran the court well on offense to be in good position to rebound.  Everyone worked well in the later minutes to put the result well out of reach of our opposition.
