Introduction
We all know that basketball can be quite a difficult sport to master, and given that we only have an hour each week for training there is a lot to try and cram into each session!
My aim here will be to provide regular handouts that reinforce the skills learned and practiced in our training sessions. I have tried to set the initial handouts at a level that is accessible for both players and parents (I realise that many parents are essentially learning the game along with their children).
Hopefully you find them useful.
Player Handout No. 5 - More Defensive Skills
Anyone can be a good defensive player if they put in the effort.
Player Handout No. 4 - Shooting
Shooting the correct way takes practice, but you will end up scoring more points if you do.
Player Handout No. 3 - Basic Defensive Skills
Defense is the key to winning a basketball game.
Player Handout No.2 - Lay-ups
The lay-up is the "basic" basketball shot that every player needs to master.
Player Handout No. 1 - Dribbling
If we want to be able to get the ball from one end of the court to the other, we need to be able to dribble.
