Monday 30 August - a further update
This site has been established by friends of the school. It contains commentary on matters impacting the school and critically highlights a number of documents relevant to these same issues the school has had with DECS over the last 2/3 years. Specifically, it provides the school community with access to the original 40 page Moyle Report which was released after an extensive FOI process is now available on this site, along with many of the documents submitted by the school to DECS that after 24 months remain unanswered.
The Moyle report lays bare much of what precipitated and gave rise to the issue and just how much the school community has come to be misled over this issue since 2008. For those of us who have been involved in this matter and devoted much time and effort it makes for interesting reading. If you are interested please take the time to review it.
The issue with DECS and the former Minister intervention in the school has always been about space and equitabled allocation of resources; it has always been about the ability and authority of the Principal to manage the school in the best interests of all the school. The report indicates how the matter has evolved - but the central issues of space, equity and management remain.
It is to be hoped that the Minister can deliver a solution as he has committed to but in a responsible timeframe to assist RPPS plan and manage for its future. We understand that progress is being made but have no formal information to support this view. Again, now that relocation is certain, a timeframe will provide some certainty for both schools/
The GC meets again tomorrow night to map out some views and visions for the future of the school and hopes to publish its views and then seek comment from the wider community within a few days of this meeting. We are determined to recover much of the ground lost by the distractions provided the school over the last 4/5 years, including our facilities, resources and access to funding. We are keenly looking to move at least alongside our peer schools if not beyond them, and then make sure that RPPS will never again be strategically, practically or physically disadvantaged, for whatever reason.
Cheers
Mark
