Fees

Components

The components of the fee paid per child at Rose Park Primary School as follows:

  • A Materials & Services component comprising:
    • The mandatory component which is set by the State Government and must be paid by all parents.  It is used by the school to provide services such as printed and electronic materials; initial stationery items; and materials for the school library and to enable their use by the students.
    • The optional component which is set by the Governing Council (see below) each year and is optional to be paid.  The school uses these funds to purchase additional items such as computers, interactive whiteboards, school furniture and general school upkeep items.
    • The excursion component is set by the Principal and is used to fund the cost of many of the excursions that your children attend throughout the year.  It is paid once as a lump sum and up front to minimise the administrative effort for the school and families.  There are additional fees to be paid for swimming lessons and if the class goes on a camp.

Families should note that the school relies upon the mandatory and optional fees to fund activities at the school to which DECS does contribute.  In 2009, nearly all families paid the optional component in full and for which we are most appreciative.

    School Card

Please note that some families may be 'School Card Holders' and are therefore exempt from some school and associated fees.  If you are unsure if you qualify for a school card, please contact the school finance officer.  The forms needed to make an application are:

    Setting the Optional Component

The optional component of the fee is determined by the Governing Council in consultation with the Principal.

The Governing Council is responsible for approving the budget for the School in the last term of the year prior to the year of the budget.  In considering the plans for the school for the budgeted year, the Governing Council considers the degree to which parents should be asked to contribute.

In setting the fee, the Governing Council also takes into account the rate at which:

    • the relevant costs for the school have increased
    • the optional component for the school has risen over time
    • the percentage of families who pay the optional component in full,
as well as collecting comparative information regarding fees from adjacent primary schools.

    Fees for 2012

Fees for 2010 have been set at $420.00 plus an excursion levy of $100.00 for a total of $520.00 per child.   More details can be found at  Fees - Materials and Services - 2012.

The Governing Council considered it was necessary to increase the school  fees for 2012 by $20.00 and the excursion levy by $20.00 to be able to meet the schools obligations and the budget has been established accordingly.  Please note that School Fees have not been raised since 2009.
