Welcome to Term 4, Season 2011!
TERM 4 RESULTS:
Round 8 Dec 10 v Linden Park Maroon
It seems a long time between cricket matches with Round 6 rained out and Round 7 a Bye but the boys were keen for one more match. Unfortunately it was against the one team who has beaten them this term and despite some good performances (particularly Magnus and Finn who both made 18 not out off 3 overs and James T who finished with impressive bowling figures of 1/3 off 2 overs) the Rose Park team lost too many wickets and went down to Linden Park Maroon.Rose Park 5/ 74 (avg. 14.8) lost to Linden Park 3/ 89 (avg. 29.66)

Lightning Carnival - a bit different to the usual Saturday morning but the boys had fun and defeated Magill. An excellent training session in the nets followed - special mention to Tom for batting very well and being difficult to dismiss!Round 2 Oct 29 v Burnside Gold
An improved bowling performance helped the boys secure their first win of the term but they need to focus on the little things when fielding and batting.Speial mention to James T and Marcel who faced Burnside's best bowlers and did very well.

RESULTS:
Round 7 April 9 v Burnside Black
Despite some very good performances during the term this game (in ordinary conditions) was a disappointing end to the season. Burnside batted first and made 6/43 which would normally be an achievable target for the Rose Park team but a number of boys did not value their wicket and were dismissed easily and cheaply. A couple of batting pairs put up some resistance but unfortunately it wasn't enough and despite making a total of 68 runs losing 12 wickets was far too many and the game was lost.
Losing a cricket game isn't a terrible thing if the team has played as well as they can but it certainly wasn't Rose Park's best effort.
The wickets were lost with 2 run outs, 1 stumping, 2 catches and SEVEN bowled. A couple of those were facing Burnside's best bowler who was very quick but the other 5 were against some very average bowling.
Once again too many wides were bowled. Rose Park bowled 15 wides and Burnside bowled 10. The boys can do the sums and work out which team would have won if no wides were bowled!!
Rose Park 12/68 (avg. 5.6) lost to Burnside Black 6/43 (avg. 7.1)
Stats: Batting ( runs scored), Bowling (wickets taken/ runs against)

Ed 5 runs, 0/ 2
Finn 15 not out, 1/5 & 1 run out
Shekhar (4 overs) 6 runs, 0/ 6
Flynn (4 overs) 1 run, 0/5
Round 6 April 2 v Norwood
Rose Park bowled well with good line and length and good bowling was rewarded with 5 wickets (4 bowled and 1 run out).Magnus had a great day with the bat and the team had another victory.
Rose Park 1/ 82 (avg 82) defeated Norwood 5/52 (avg. 10.4)
Stats: Batting ( runs scored), Bowling (wickets taken/ runs against)
Ed 2 not out, 0/ 2

Flynn 6 not out, 1/ 11

Round 5 March 26 v Magill
Rose Park fielded first and got off to an excellent start with some accurate bowling and very tight fielding. There were only 12 wides bowled this week and NINE wickets taken!!Thomas took 3/ 6 (bowled x 2 and caught Matt).
James N took 2/ 2 (bowled and hit wicket)
James T 2/ 6 (caught James N and caught Matt)
Magnus 1/ 2 (bowled)
Shekhar 1/7 (bowled)
There were a couple of dropped catches and some missed run out opportunities but what a great effort from everyone.
Rose Park 1/ 97 (avg 97) defeated Magill 9/ 46 (avg. 5.1)
Stats: Batting ( runs scored), Bowling (wickets taken/ runs against)

Jack R 4 not out (2 overs), 0/1
Magnus 7 not out (2 overs), 1/ 2
Round 4 March 19 v Linden Park Maroon
Rose Park got more runs on the board than Linden Park but the loss of 5 wickets hurt the team's average and they suffered their first loss of the season. Not taking enough wickets when Rose Park were fielding and bowling 23 WIDES!!! also contributed to the loss. On the positive side two good catches were taken by Thomas and James T.Rose Park 5/78 (avg 15.6) lost to Linden Park Maroon 2/52 (avg. 26)
Stats: Batting ( runs scored), Bowling (wickets taken/ runs against)Magnus 15 not out, 1/4

Matt 18 runs, 0/5
James N 6 runs, 0/7
Jack R 10 runs, 0/10
Thomas 10 runs, 0/5
Round 3 March 5 v St Joseph's Tranmere
Rose Park opened the bowling and showed good improvement on the first two weeks. There were only 9 wides bowled in 16 overs which the coach was very happy with, well done boys!Rose Park took eight wickets - 4 bowled, 1 caught, 1 hit wicket and 2 run outs, so a bit of everything.
A very strong batting performance followed with James N and Tom opening. They had a fantastic 42 run partnership (batted for 4 overs) and everyone else contributed runs.
Just a reminder to be careful with hitting shots into the air. St Joseph's dropped a few catches and missed a few run outs so when we play a team who is tighter in the field the boys will need to keep the ball down.
Rose Park 5/102 (avg 20.4) defeated St Joseph's 8/41 (avg. 5.1)
Stats: Batting ( runs scored), Bowling (wickets taken/ runs against)James N 27 not out, 0/5

Finn 11 not out, 0/9
Shekhar 3 runs, 2/1
Edward 5 not out, 0/2
Jack V 8 not out, 2/2
Magnus 11 not out, 0/11
Jack R 8 not out, 0/3 (2 run outs, 1 each to Finn & Jack)
Matt 12 runs, 1/1
Flynn 2 runs, 0/4
Round 2 Feb 26 v Trinity Gardens
Rose Park sent Trinity Gardens in to bat and while the bowling had improved from last week things were looking a bit grim after 10 overs when the score was 0/ 35.Magnus took Rose Park's first wicket in the 11th over (bowled) and Finn took two wickets in the final over (bowled and caught Magnus) to have Trinity Gardens finish with a score of 3/49.
Jack V and Finn bowled maiden overs, Magnus had a wicket maiden and the bowling figures were pretty good all round (see below). There were 18 wides bowled, an improvement on round 1, but it would be good to see ever fewer next week!
Magnus and Matt got the team off to a fantastic start making a combined total of 0/ 35 in their four overs!
There was some very good running between wickets and excellent batting performances from all players with just about everyone hitting a four.Tom and Ed also made double figures.
A good team effort today.
Rose Park 2/ 84 (avg 42) defeated Trinity Gardens 3/ 49 (avg. 16.3)
Stats: Batting ( runs scored), Bowling (wickets taken/ runs against)Magnus 19 not out, 1/5
Matt 16 not out, 0/9
Finn 7 not out, 2/1
Jack R 4 not out, 0/9
Edward 10 not out. 0/6
Jack V 9 runs , 0/1
James T 2 not out, 0/13
Thomas 17 not out, 0/3
Round 1 Feb 19 v Linden Park White
A good performance in wintry conditions to start off the season. There was some good running between the wickets and this will only improve as the boys get used to playing together. Runs were hard to get, in part because of the wet outfield and partly because of the bowling. Finn hit one four but otherwise there were only singles
The highest scorer of the day was "wides", Rose Park bowled 26 and Linden Park 31!! The boys will need to work on their bowling, James would like them to practise at home as once a week at training is probably not enough. There were no catches but several run outs.
Thanks to all the boys for filling in for Linden Park in the field. Magnus took 2 wickets against Rose Park and Matt Green got a run out. Luckily Rose Park still came away with a win.
Rose Park 3/72 (avg 24) defeated Linden Park 8/ 35 (avg. 4.5)
Stats: Batting ( runs scored), Bowling (wickets taken/ runs against)Magnus 10 runs not out, 0/5 and 1 run out

Edward 10 runs, not out. Bowling 1/3
Shekhar 11 runs, 1/3
Jack R 7 runs not out, 0/7
