Purpose
Rose Park Primary School provides a host of opportunities for the school community to be involved in the school through the Governing Council and it's sub-committees.The Governing Council works closely with the school management team to advance the best interests of the school by:
- setting the strategic direction for the school
- representing the whole school community
- focusing the school on improving student learning outcomes
- monitoring and reporting on achievements
Structure & Membership
The membership of the Governing Council is 14:- 9 elected parents
- the Principal
- 2 staff
- a representative from each of the two affiliated Parents and Friends and Old Scholars Associations.

Each Governing Council member is expected to be on at least one Sub-committee and the Principal or his representative is also on each Sub-committee. Staff generally also have a representative on each Sub-committee. Other vacancies are filled through volunteer parents of students at the school.
Each of the Sub-committees of the Governing Council operates under the guidelines established for Governing Councils through the Departmental Administrative Instructions and Guidelines (AIG). Each Sub-committee is governed by the terms of a Role Statement (see above).
Sub-committees are not decision making groups. They do the leg work for the Governing Council and make recommendations to Governing Council for their decision making.
