Sports Overview

The school offers a comprehensive sporting program.  Coordinated by employees of the school and operated by volunteer parents as coaches and managers, the school offers traditional sports and less traditional opportunities. The participation rate across the school is high with many students taking on three or more mainstream sports per year plus the added opportunities as they are offered.

In-School-Hours Sport

Physical education, fitness, health and games skills are taught by all teachers.  An annual Sports Day is conducted for the whole school and some students also participate in District and State sporting events.  R-5 students are involved in a swimming program at Thebarton Indoor Pool, Year 6 students attend a Surf Education Camp and Year 7 students attend an Aquatics Camp.  The school has a strong program of visiting sporting clinics.

Out-of-School-Hours Sport

A strong Out-of-School-Hours Sports program exists within the school and is coordinated by parents and a Sports Teacher is employed by the Governing Council to oversee all out-of-school-hour sports and is overseen by the OSH Sports Sub-committee.  Availability of parent coaches and managers determines which sports can be offered.  Most teams are open to boys and girls.  Many of the students are also involved in SAPSASA competitions.
